A Fresh Look at Adventure Island in Tampa

After adding Vanish Point in 2018, Adventure Island is continuing park-wide upgrades, including adding new amenities and refreshing current offerings. Located just across the street from Busch Gardens Tampa Bay, Adventure Island is open seasonally from March through November, and is currently open daily for guests to find some relief from the hot Florida summer.

Guests are welcomed into the park with a fresh paint scheme on several buildings, including Island Surf Shop, Surfside Cafe and Captain Pete’s Island Eats. A new mural was added to Mango Joe’s Beach Cafe as well.

Overlooking Endless Surf wave pool, two new “super” cabanas have been built where guests can lounge in luxury for the day. Included in the cabana rental is seating for up to eight guests, a welcome basket, mini-fridge with ten bottles of water, and meal vouchers for each guest to use at participating restaurants. Plus, guests of the super cabanas share a private lawn with games. A cabana host is also available to take orders for additional beverages, snacks and souvenirs. Rentals start at $249.99 per cabana, and since there are only two available, advance reservations are strongly recommended.

All around Adventure Island guests will find brand new lounge furniture this season, along with other new seating at some of the park’s culinary locations.

Continuing to respond to what guests have asked for, the park has also installed more shade structures. This started last season with addition of several large umbrellas at different seating areas, and even more have been added this year including at the wave pool. In addition, shade structures have been added above the queues at several slides, including Riptide, Wahoo Run and Calypso Coaster.

Riptide’s tower also received some work in the off season, with most of the decking and railings replaced.

There’s fun to be had away from the water, too. Last season, several games of cornhole were set up around the park for guests to enjoy. This year several large Connect 4 games were added. While guests can enjoy these any time of day, they’re especially welcome during weather delays that temporarily close the attractions.

Just about anywhere you look, Tampa’s water park is looking even better this season thanks to all of the improvements made. Fresh paint, new furniture, and many other upgrades make for an even better day at Adventure Island.
