Roaring Springs at Lowry Park Zoo Construction Update

Last year, Tampa’s Lowry Park Zoo announced they would be getting rid of their old log flume and build a new 3 story splash down river adventure, Roaring Springs. On a visit in December, we showed you the old log flume had been removed, and the site was being prepped for the new ride to take shape.

Since our last visit, Roaring Springs has gone vertical – in a big way! A very large steel support column with a number of arms has been erected.

When we stopped by on Monday, crews were bolting together pieces that will support the flume’s trough on those extended arms.

Elsewhere on the work site, we saw another of those support pieces for the trough waiting to be installed, and a large amount of steel rebar in place awaiting a concrete pour.

Roaring Springs at Tampa’s Lowry Park Zoo is scheduled to open this year.
